Technical Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a role model for safety by promoting a safe work environment and by engaging in safety initiatives

  • Product Development Team

  • Lead technical team

  • Lead quality team 

  • Work with outside technical resources and suppliers to initiate cost reduction, quality enhancement, and process improvement trials

  • Build relationships with the hourly workforce and provide technical training on process improvements and changes that impact safety, quality, costs, operations, and efficiencies

  • Provide weekend on-call coverage for the paper mill on a rotating basis

  • Develop leadership skill-set and take on increasing levels of supervisor responsibilities

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in a technical field relating to chemical engineering.  Previous mill experience of at least 3 years required.

Maintenance Millwright

Qualifications:

 

Successful candidates must have a desire and ability to work as a multi-skilled technician in a continuous process industry.  Applicants must have a stable, verifiable work history, with a demonstrated commitment to safety.  We’re looking for a strong, in-depth millwright/mechanical knowledge and practical application experience in areas such as:

  • General mechanical systems (pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings, rigging, equipment repair and rebuilding)

  • Welding (mild steel and stainless, repair and new fabrication)

  • Pipefitting (repairs and new installation)

  • Operation of saws, drill press, grinders, lathe and hand tools

  • Equipment installation including couplings and alignment

  • Basic computer skills

  • Analytical process troubleshooting including mechanical print reading and using troubleshooting manuals

 

Preference will be given to individuals with a completed apprenticeship or advanced millwright/mechanical experience in a continuous process industry.

Requires the ability to work in a team environment and willingness to work flexible hours.

 
Industrial Engineer

Mechanical Engineer Lead

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations by providing direction which will include prioritization of tasks.

  • Assist in the development of the millwrights and electrical and instrumentation craftsmen.

  • Seek, recognize, define and solve problems to achieve unit objectives. Resolve complex technical issues to determine the root cause.

  • Develops and manages predictive and preventative maintenance programs.

  • Manages the operation of the boiler house.

  • Perform all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment training and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines. 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of production and maintenance downtime planning.

  • Create a strategic vision for the capital investment needs of the assets.

  • Lead Planning and Project Management of capital projects to improve process reliability, safety, and overall operation of the assets. Also responsible for contracted manpower scheduling. This includes the development and orientation of company-required work practices.

  • Use effective communication skills regarding technical issues across all plant operations.

  • Work with external technical service providers, construction management providers, and sourcing and supply vendor partners.

  • Provides weekend maintenance management coverage on a rotation basis.

  • Will be a member of the SQF team.

 

Qualifications / Experience:

 

  • Bachelors in Engineering preferred. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience may suffice.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an engineering role with a variety of technical or operational assignments, including demonstrated leadership in achieving results.

  • Strong experience with mechanical and/or electrical processes and equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Experience working with external technical service providers.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
